Rohini Shukla is an Adjunct Professor of Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures at Barnard College. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Religion, Columbia University, in 2024. She received her B.A. from Fergusson University and M.A. from Manipal University in 2012 and 2015 respectively. Her research focuses on devotional traditions, vernacular philosophies, and caste–specifically the Caitanya lineage of the Deccan–in early modern South Asia. Her other research interests are Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s Marathi biographies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Marathi literature.
